Voice and Sound Practices

I am a student and practitioner of voice therapy, currently involved in ongoing research exploring the benefits of voice and sound in well-being.

My curiosity about sound and voice practices began in 2016, after experiencing sound baths in my hometown of Sintra, Portugal. What initially started as a personal interest gradually developed into a deeper study, leading me to explore the origins, foundations, and practices of voice and sound therapy, as well as their neurological influences.
Today, I am increasingly active in using voice and sound to design and facilitate therapeutic and restorative experiences. Through these practices, I aim to create spaces where people can disconnect from everyday stress, explore their creativity, reconnect with themselves, or simply take a moment to pause and feel grounded.
Working in this field nourishes both my connection to art and my engagement with society.

About me

At the heart of life choices is a personal manifesto: I believe that science, art, nature, and society are interconnected pillars that can coexist and enrich one another. Throughout my life, I have tried to remain active across these different areas while keeping this principle in mind. I've always also influenced other around me to embrace art, creativity and different forms of activism.

Projects

Since the age of 16, I have been involved in a variety of social projects and causes. These have included initiatives promoting the talents and creative potential of people with blind, deaf, and speaking disabilities (2006); discussions on liberation of girls and women from violence within the Angolan social context (2016); supporting activities in a homeless association in Lisbon (2017); and playing the flute at a benefit event raising funds for a girl undergoing cancer treatment (2022).

Between 2011 and 2018, I also regularly participated in round-table discussions addressing topics such as education, race and discrimination, music, and society. I've also participated in philosophical dialogues and spaces for collective reflection. This interest led me to organize Poonza Paloosa in 2022, an event dedicated to discussing societal questions.

Open discussions about uncomfortable topics bring useful information and build awareness. Poonza Paloosa was created with the intention to facilitate a space for open dialogue, exchange and bridge awareness on topics that feel distant to us.

Over the past three years, I have been particularly engaged in conversations about violence experienced by women across different social and cultural contexts. More recently, another area of curiosity has emerged around alternative forms of urban living, including eco-communities and ecovillages.

My activities are rooted in the belief that we can learn to move fluidly between science, art, nature and society. I believe that each of us has a meaningful role to play in building a more connected, conscious, and sustainable society.

The voice therapeutical practice comes as a form of free expression and inner conscience rooted in the believe that when we repress our creativity and outsource imagination, we are more vulnerable to rely on external sources.

I find great pleasure when people reconnect with themselves and take ownership on their own process of thinking and being creative.
